The artist Paul Harris (1925–2018) evades definition materially, thematically, and aesthetically. Having come of age as an artist in the effervescent 1950s, when stylistic allegiance was paramount, Harris was unusually comfortable across a spectrum from representational to abstract, and in two or three dimensions. Working in drawing, printmaking, and painting, his mark-making is richly lyrical; and his bronze and soft sculptures are expansive in form and shape, their intricacies in surface speak to his early training as a painter. A popular teacher, mentor, and colleague in the Bay Area art community, Harris was more than a maker—he inspired and championed a generation of artists at a pivotal time in American culture.
Working with our communications and strategy partner on artist foundations and estates, The Office of Brent Foster Jones we developed a comprehensive identity and online presence for The Paul Harris Estate reflective of his colorful and dynamic output. The work to date has included a centenary campaign of strategy, communications, and branding spanning museum and marketplace engagement, exhibitions, scholarship, public programs and symposia, digital, and social assets and execution.
