As the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts approached their 30th Birthday, they requested an identity for the milestone that could be used both as a stand-alone system and as a mark on a wide-range of communications.
The 30th program would be visually independent of YBCA’s brand in terms of typography and palette, but at times need to integrate with the larger system. The chosen system is anchored by a zero presented as a bracket. This element acts as a lens that can fluidly expand and contract to frame artwork from YBCA’s history and present. At other times it holds abstract shapes and patterns. A celebratory color pallet accompanies the program, along with an extensive portfolio of templates and assets.
