“Son of Fruitbowl” Illustration

Client: Dwell Magazine

For Dwell's Tenth Anniversary issue, the magazine referenced an editorial from the premier issue entitled "The Fruit Bowl Manifesto," reconsidering that essay in light of technological progress. One such advancement was computer-aided routing, which over the decade has gone from an expensive and specialized process to one that is relatively accessible. Our assignment was to create custom type that looked as if it were carved out of Cararra marble. We drew letterforms specific to the article title and then collaborated with digital artist Kent Matheson to digitally render the illustration as if it was carved in stone.
