Originated in 1936, The Richmond Art Center is the largest visual arts center in the East Bay, dedicated to providing the community with the opportunity to see, create, and learn about art. While known locally, particularly within the artist community, the’ve struggled to be recognized in the larger Bay Area. We were originally brought in to make improvements to a recently-designed logo and create graphics standard. While exploring the existing logo, we also created options that started fresh, and ultimately the center decided to go in that direction. The new logo incorporates the initials R A C in the form of graphic arrows that collectively create a R monogram for Richmond. The components can break out as independent graphic elements for use across the system. Along with the new mark, we created a system that included pallette, typography standards, and guidelines on application for current and future needs.
